It’s safe to say over my 4 years in the city, I’ve gathered enough intel to put together the ultimate list. It’s never a good feeling spending more than a tenner on a cocktail, even worse when it arrives at the table and doesn’t even taste that great. This happy hour guide is here to help can enjoy your favourite drinks without having to worry (too much) about checking your bank balance the next day.

The Liars Club

If you’re in need of a tropical hideaway because like me you are craving a holiday, The Liars Club is the place for you. This Tiki bar provides the perfect escape from the city with it’s array of exotic cocktails and chilled music. Located on Back Bridge Street and open as late as 4am, this bar is ideal if you are looking for a fun night out. Oh and the best part, buy one get one for a £1 from Sunday-Friday with every cocktail you buy, you can get another one for £1 *T&Cs apply. Check it out and let us know what you think.

The Liquor Store

Twice winners of the Manchester ‘Eat, Drink Sleep’ award voted the ‘’best late night venue’’ in the city, The Liquor Store is a cocktail bar not to be missed, situated on Blackfriars Street. With an extensive selection of drinks, there is sure to be one you have not yet tried but are bound to love. Cocktails cost an average of £8.50 which for city centre standards is a great price for such tasty drinks. If you’re celebrating an occasion or just fancy something a little bit different they also offer a bottomless rock brunch and BBQ brunch every Saturday and Sunday. An hour and a half of delicious food and cocktails all for under £30

Lock 91

After visiting here last week we had to feature it in our article, as the name suggests lock 91 is situated exactly there, on the locks at Deansgate in a 19th Century Lock Keeper’s cottage. It’s a gorgeous setting that gives you a home from home atmosphere with great cocktails and service. With Manchester’s unpredictable weather Lock 91 were prepared handing out blankets to the dithering customers, who typically had not dressed weather appropriate, including me. We have tried and tested their affordable crafted cocktails and can definitely vouch for the Porn Star Martini. Check out some of the events Lock 91 has to offer including speed dating nights perfect for getting to meet someone new as we exit lockdown and adjust back to normality.

The Font

This is what you’ve all been waiting for, some of the cheapest cocktails you will find in the city, the home of over 30 crazy concoctions, from just £3 a pop, this had to make the list. Although The Font bar is definitely popular amongst students due to its cheap drinks, great atmosphere and close proximity to the universities, it is a must visit for all. After all, you can’t go wrong with a £3 cocktail. Three of the cocktails we recommend are the mermaid lemonade, Vimto margarita or the sour jelly tot. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Turtle Bay

Although you have probably heard of Turtle Bay, it would be wrong to miss it from the list of cheap cocktails Manchester has to offer because of its amazing drinks offers that are available throughout the week. There are two Turtle Bay sites in Manchester which demonstrates the demand for the place, and understandably so.

Sunday to Thursday they do 2-4-1 cocktails from 10am – 7pm and then 9.30pm – close. But the deals don’t stop on the weekend either, a rarity for most happy hour deals. They also do a bottomless brunch offer, which unless your living under a rock, have probably heard of. It costs £28.50pp for 2 hours of unlimited cocktails and a brunch.

Slug and Lettuce

Another great place for cocktails is Slug and Lettuce with similar 2-4-1 cocktail deals to Turtle Bay. Here you are certain to find a lively atmosphere, great tunes and tasty cocktails, with venues across the country- Slug and Lettuce is one of our favourite chains that does not disappoint. As you can see from the image, the cocktails here look tasty and refreshing, and trust us they are. Check it out and let us know what you think.
